Red Scare

From around 1918 there appears, both in the media and in political discourse,a strange conflation of terms.Anarchist,German saboteur,Bolshevik, are used indiscriminately as the same phenomenon..Anarchists then, are both German sympathizers and Bolsheviks.Bolsheviks are both anarchists and German sympathizers etc.If we look for example at the House of Representative Bill of June 1918 -Exclusion and Expulsion of Anarchists From the United States- much of the information that informed the debate were actually acts of German sabotage.

Is it possible to trace the development of this phenomenon? At least in the media?(BP)
