The idea of eternal recurrence, or the notion that our existence forever repeats itself, is the basic conception of Friedrich Nietzche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra (1884). Elaboration can be found in sections 3.2.2. and 3.13.2 of Zarathustra and 341 of The Gay Science (1882).
